Day of the Dead

Yesterday, my friends and I attended the Day of the Dead celebration in Murphys, California. Celebrating the Day of the Dead is always bittersweet for me. On one hand, I love any excuse to dress up. On the other hand, it’s a day to remember friends and family that are no longer with us. It’s a celebration of their life, but also the realization that the people that we loved and cared for are gone forever. But what matters are the memories they left with us. To remember them, is to keep them alive in our hearts.

Believe it or not

TikTok has become a source of education for me. Through TikTok, I came across this website: Tailernova.com. The site allows you to design your own garments and even allows you to print out your own pattern. How cool is that?! I can’t wait to start playing around with it. (This post is not sponsored, but I sure wish it was).

Joanna’s Graduation 2020

I had so much fun shooting this project for my sister Patty. Joanna was such a good sport! She’s being promoted this year from middle school to high school and we’re all very excited for what the future has in store for her. Congratulations Joanna!

Day one.

This is essentially day one of starting my own business. These are the things that I have accomplished today:

I (Mostly) finished my website. I plan on adding more content as time progresses. Upon editing my Photography page, I realized that I did not have as many images available as I had hoped. Mental note for the next time I leave my house.

I guess that’s pretty much it.

I’ve always played around with the idea of starting my own photography/online business, but it’s not until this moment that I am taking it seriously. I’m not exactly sure where this is headed, but I know the general direction where I want to go. I’m casting out a net for jobs that I truly enjoy doing.

I’m an art nerd at heart. Unfortunately, art school was never part of the plan. Circumstances in life encouraged me to make a safer choice. So I went to business school. Businesses will always be around and there will always be a need for someone to manage them. While I enjoyed working for an accounting firm, something in my life was missing.

I’m taking a break from my profession and trying out something completely new. It’s scary, but not really. I have a safety net. If this doesn’t work out, then I’ll just go back to my boring ol’ job. If it came to that, I would still like to run my business on a part-time basis. So hang in there.

From a business aspect, I’m excited about utilizing the skills that I’ve learned throughout my educational and professional career. I’ll try to provide as much insight as I can along the way.

Lastly, I hope to inspire others to also share their talents with the world.
